Bedroom Drawers, LONDON

We were commissioned to design, make and install a set of bespoke drawers for a narrowboat in London. The brief was to create better organised and accessible storage to fit neatly underneath a raised platform bed. Access had to be maintained to the water tank which is under the bed and the floor is uneven, so we opted for two freestanding drawer units on castors. This allowed for the drawers to be easily moved at any point, to gain access underneath the bed whenever necessary. 

The drawers are on hidden, soft close runners for smooth closing and have a recessed handle that was CNC machined with a drawer pull bit. The shapes of the handles were inspired from patterns which appeared on the water's surface. The drawers and carcass are made from a combination of 12mm and 18mm birch ply, all finished in water based, non toxic varnish and the fronts are made from white grey valchromat and finished in Rubio monocoat.
